ART LockJack – Important Safety Notice

Lockjack boltsDuring the end-of-production quality and safety checks of the Lockjack, ART have found, in some instances, that four of the securing bolts in the device were not tightened to the required torque rating of 6 – 7.5 Nm (53 – 66.4 In-Lbs). There have been no reports of failure of the device due to insufficient torque on these bolts, but ART can not safely rule out the possibility of such an instance.

To safely avoid the possibility of failure of any devices, and injury to the user, ART have therefore called the following action:

LockJacks with the serial numbers 01.13.02.XXX, 01.14.01.XXX and 01.14.02.XXX must not be used, before being thoroughly inspected!

The relevant bolts may be inspected and, if necessary, tightened by the user themselves. The described bolts require a minimum torque of 4 Nm. A strong turn by hand, with a hexagonal bit or socket wrench, will normally produce 6 – 7 Nm of torque, leaving a good safety buffer. If more precision is required, or the user is unsure, then a torque wrench is to be used.
