Store sales team member – FR Jones and Son Ltd

Description

As a member of our store sales team, you will be required to provide retail support to customers in our busy South-East London showroom. This will involve assisting customers with their purchase – helping them select the right product(s) for their needs, directing them to the correct department etc. and handling the checkout process using our in-store invoicing and computerised till system.

You will also be responsible for replenishing store stock on a daily basis and to assist the warehouse by picking stock to fulfil mail/web orders.

Standard hours

08:00 – 17:00, Monday – Friday
08:00 – 12:00, alternate Saturdays

Salary

Starting from £20,000 – £22,000, dependant on experience, knowledge and skills

Key roles and responsibilities

Providing customer service

To work as part of the sales team in order to provide excellent customer service through:

Providing and continuously developing product knowledge
Understanding and demonstrating customer care and high levels of customer service at all times
Replenishing stock and maintaining the appearance of the store to a high standard
Displaying good listening skills, identifying customer needs and responding to them quickly

Working as part of a team

To work as part of the sales team by:

Supporting and helping colleagues with their work
Showing a genuine interest in other people and willingness to help
Using initiative at all times
Showing flexibility and willingness to meet store needs during the period of employment regarding hours, work and duties
Communicating effectively with colleagues and managers

Communication

To communicate effectively with line management on a daily basis to ensure:

Adherence to all Company policies and procedures e.g. timekeeping, absence reporting procedures etc.
Maintaining and demonstrating security and Health and Safety awareness – ensure that standards are adhered to at all times
Actively supporting and communicating with colleagues, customers and managers.
Ensure awareness of the business aims of the Company, the store objectives and sales targets and the contribution you are are expected to make towards them

Maintaining the Company brand

To promote the Company brand by always behaving in a professional and courteous manner by:

Use of proper English when communicating in writing
Always addressing customers in a professional and courteous manner
Ensuring the store always looks presentable and that the promotions and merchandising are in line with Company standards and store requirements
Ensuring that general sales, refunds and any customer enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner
Displaying a professional image to our customers, suppliers and visitors at all times

Skills and experience

Essential

Proven experience working as part of a team in a retail environment
Experience of working with company policies and procedures
Basic computer literacy
Good written English

Desirable

Experience of working in either the landscaping or tree surgery industry
Experience of working on a Trade Counter or similar working environment
Knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace
