ECOPLUG have lots of benefits both ecologically and economically.
Ecological benefits

100% selective method.
No spillage of chemicals.
No risk of damage to the surrounding nature.
No risk for those who do the work to come in contact with the active substance
ECOPLUG is approved to be used by individuals.
ECOPLUG contains a well-documented active substance that is broken down completely by nature itself.

Economic benefits

ECOPLUG prevents the formation of new sprouts.
You do not have to clear the regrowth year after year.

Product information

The active substance in Ecoplug is glyphosate (N-(phosphonomethyl) glycine).
It is a broad-spectrum systemic herbicide used to kill weeds, especially perennials. It is absorbed by the plant either through the leaves, injected into the trunk, or applied to the stump of a tree. Ecoplug uses it primarily as a cut-stump treatment as a forestry herbicide. But Ecoplug also kills off standing trees.
Glyphosate

Glyphosate’s mode of action is to inhibit an enzyme involved in the synthesis of the aromatic amino acids: tyrosine, tryptophan and phenylalanine. It is absorbed through foliage and translocated to growing points. Because of this mode of action, it is only effective on actively growing plants; it is not effective as a pre-emergence herbicide. Each Ecoplug contains 204 mg of glyphosate.
All natural

Glyphosate is an aminophosphonic analogue of the natural amino acid glycine, and the name is a contraction of gly(cine) phos(phon)ate. The molecule has several dissociable hydrogens, especially the first hydrogen of the phosphate group. The molecule tends to exist as a zwitterion where a phosphonic hydrogen dissociates and joins the amine group. Glyphosate is soluble in water to 12 g/L at room temperature.
Kills plants, not pets and people

Glyphosate kills plants by interfering with the synthesis of the amino acids phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan. It does this by inhibiting the enzyme 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS), which catalyzes the reaction of shikimate-3-phosphate (S3P) and phosphoenolpyruvate to form 5-enolpyruvyl-shikimate-3-phosphate (ESP).ESP is subsequently dephosphorylated to chorismate, an essential precursor in plants for the aromatic amino acids: phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan. These amino acids are used as building blocks in peptides, and to produce secondary metabolites such as folates, ubiquinones and naphthoquinone. Glyphosate functions by occupying the binding site of the phosphoenol pyruvate, mimicking an intermediate state of the ternary enzyme substrates complex. The shikimate pathway is not present in animals, which instead obtain aromatic amino acids from their diet.

How to use Ecoplug

Drill a hole 1/2″ diameter and 1 3/8″ – 1 5/8″ deep.
Use a hammer to drive the plug into the hole, thus sealing the opening so that no substance can escape.
Where should you apply the plug?

There are two main methods.
On standing trees and on stumps from the side or on the stump also from above.
(we recommend to apply the plug from the side to achieve as good result as possible)
IMPORTANT!

Use the plug:

On fresh wood. If it is an old stump give it a fresh cut or insert the plugs as near to the ground as possible. Or directly on the roots spreading from the stump.
Evenly distributed around the stump/tree
Close to the bark and the capillary system

How many plugs will be needed

Insert the plugs at intervals of about 2,5 to 3 inches.
In most cases you can estimate the number of plugs by measuring the diameter of the stump in inches and divide by 1,5.
How slender stumps can be treated

The stump needs to be about one inch thick.
If it burst, give it a new cut and squeeze the stump with your fist when inserting the plug.
